Arizona's state government has passed SB 1070 (text of bill behind link), an immigration bill which mandates police to stop and demand immigration papers from anyone they think may be in the country illegally- essentially, mandated racial profiling.

This is so really really dumb. How is anyone supposed to tell just by looking? Racial profiling indeed -- but there's plenty of brown-skinned people who are born citizens. Immigrants are supposed to be carrying their permanent resident cards or whatever (enotsola does), but citizens aren't likely to be carrying anything that could prove that (some people don't even have copies of their birth certificates at home). And like there are no such things as undocumented immigrants who are white? *headdesk*

Also: This is really outside the domain of the police IMO. They are not DHS/border patrol, thanks.
