Huh; I hadn't heard that story about Adams' wife. She seems like a good sort, at least.

You'd probably appreciate Wish You Were Here, the authorized Douglas Adams biography by Nick Webb. I did. (Plus, unlike M.J. Simpson, Webb can actually write. I could only read snippets of Simpson's unauthorized biography and even those snippets were maddening -- I found what I read badly written, editorialized, and infused with the attitude Everything that's being done by people Not Me in Douglas's memory is shitting on that memory.

(You can tell I feel strongly about that?)

Anyway. Nick Webb. Wish You Were Here. Worthy work.

Who the who is "Eoin Colfer?"

(Yes, I am aware that Google would answer that question. I just don't wanna ask, because I'm feeling contrary.)

He's the author of the Artemis Fowl childrens' novels; Douglas Adams' widow has arranged for him to write the new Hitchhiker's book.

*shrugs* I'll judge after I read the book. Personally, I'm a fan of Eoin. And from what I've read on his site, he holds no illusions about writing the book. His hope is that fan will accept it.

I guess they won't.

I'm going to give it a shot because I love the universe (franchise? dare I call it that? I don't want to. Star Trek is a franchise, and look what's happened to it), but I am not holding my breath and squeeing.
