Newtown, Pennsylvania is a very nice place to be spending my Friday. The company I'm working at is a pleasant, informal place; I just got some positive feedback for a good catch in a job (I queried why a D.C. hotel would have a "Capital" ballroom); the weather is gorgeous. I took a walk down the main street earlier, when buying lunch; there's a store called "The Giving Tree", which pleases me. Also, there's a very good used books/music store; I bought the U2 greatest hits CD that has "All I Want is You" on it, (thanks,
oceanic!) and found, to my delight, a copy of Lloyd Alexander's Time Cat, which I've not read in over twenty-five years. (I also found a tie-in book to Alex Cox's film Walker- must order the Joe Strummer soundtrack album- and all three volumes of Danny Peary's Cult Movies series, which also delighted me.)

(Well, I amused myself, at least!)

That's one of the Strummer albums I don't have yet, but I have a lot of his other work. His version of "Minstrel Boy" from _Black Hawk Down_ (which I haven't and won't see because it would hurt too much) - I heard it shortly after his death for the first time, and it made me sob my guts out.

Also, I'm utterly embarrassed as to how many times I'd seen Grosse Pointe Blank, before I realized who scored it. (The assassination during the opening credits *does* tend to distract me, as such things will do.)
Also also, there's a Joe Strummer mural on 7th and A; highly recommended, should you ever make it out this way.
