Question, since I'm too hacky sneezy to write a real post: has anyone conversant with the original version of The Terminator seen the DVD version? In watching it, it almost seems as though the sound effects have been reworked: the Terminator's pistol almost sounds silenced, rather than having its original BLAM! sound; the HKs make a deeper, more menacing whoosh noise when they fly overhead; when Sarah drives off into the storm cloud at the end (a matte painting by the brilliant Ken Marschall), there's a rumble of thunder. Did Cameron rework the sound, or is the cold medicine getting to me?
