I'm very possibly the last person on the entire planet to discover this (due to not watching TV over the last 20 years), but the Batman animated series from the early 90s was amazing. Wonderful, cinematic design; nice adaptation of the Danny Elfman Batman theme for the opening credits; excellent voice casting (Mark Hamill rocks as The Joker.) The episode I just saw was particularly well done: in it, Batman realizes that crimes in Gotham City are being patterned after episodes of an obscure '50s/early '60s B&W TV show called "The Grey Ghost." After visiting a video store to look for copies of the show to no avail (Batman's a film geek!), he tracks down the former Grey Ghost, an out-of-work aging actor... who, in a particularly nice touch, is played by Adam West. A lovely, touching piece of work.

Also, to my delight I got to watch live-action Quidditch played this afternoon, through the good graces of [livejournal.com profile] marchek. The players play on foot; the Snitch is represented by someone wearing a bright yellow cape (to capture the snitch, you snatch a yellow flag hanging from their back pocket); much delightful geekery ensues. It was a nice charge of energy; I haven't had HP much on the brain of late, and that needs to change.

I freaking LOVED that series!! i used to hurry home to make sure I could watch it AND one day I actually called the network to complain when they broke into the broadcast to air some idiotic public meeting. I own two seasons on DVD now, I plan to get them all! :)

re: Batman - I've only seen a bit of it, but I completely agree.

re: quidditch - that sounds amazingly fun!

I haven't seen enough of it myself, but plan to gorge one of these days. Probably the next time the comics Batman series depresses or angers me into fleeing the comic shop again, now that I have a TV and will soon have a DVD player. There are several "movies" in the series as well.

So that's how live-action Quidditch does it. Hmm.

I really want to hole up and write more, but this upcoming week is too full of must-do things. Feh.
