Apparently, the week of September 14-20 is National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week. My apartment mate suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome; I've dated several people who suffered from one form of PTSD or another; I know many, many people who have to deal, every day, with illnesses that aren't immediately noticeable as, say, a missing limb, but that can be just as debilitating.

Heck, I know an amputee who said to me once "Me? I'm just missing a piece. You? Are fucking broken. No offense."
