While I've never seen Torchwood, Children of Earth has generally been getting raves from my flist, which makes me happy. Fandom by osmosis?

I've only seen the first three so far, and they're good like good Doctor Who is.

however, and this is important, they're written by Rusty Davies.

Who has a *six season track record so far* of writing decent setups, interesting scenarios, adequate characterisation, and then ending it all with a COMPLETELY BORING deus ex machina ending where Doctor SuperMegaJesus And His MarySues Fix Everything In The Last Two Minutes, and everyone cheers because their faith in Doctor SuperMegaJesus was rewarded with not just instant fix, but also a use of the History Eraser Button so none of the interesting stuff from before happened in the first place.

I have *zero* hopes that this will be better. But my wife is desperate to see what happens, so I'm in for that. :)
