Why the heck did the Thurmians design the new Enterprise? Seriously, that thing with Scotty and the Water Pipes of Doom/Gigantic Blender of Equal Doom was straight out of Galaxy Quest. They even used the same "push the level forward to make the ship move" control for the helm!

When Pike told Sulu, "Punch it," I really wanted to hear him say "Pedal to the metal, commander."

While we're on the subject of the Pipes and Blender? That "emergency hatch" has some sort of Very Smart Emergency-Analyzing Valve on it. I mean, the hatch popped closed as soon as Scotty fell out, instead of it staying open and continuing to pour vast quantities of water all over the engineering bay.

Why this continues to bug me, but not the massive plot holes that I am cheerily ignoring, I cannot tell.

I totally need to see that movie again. Squee!

Maybe Kirk did that from the computer? The same way he opened the hatch in the first place?

I dunno. I hadn't noticed it yet. Maybe the *next* time I see the movie . . .

I heard the water pipes of doom scene was filmed in a Budweiser plant. I have no idea if that answers your question, but I feel it is an awesome detail.
