1. Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times: 2001 and Citizen Kane tie for first here; I’ve seen each between 50 and 60 times.
2. Name a movie that you've seen multiple times in a theater: Brazil; four times so far.
3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a movie: Hrrm; Sean Penn, as much as I occasionally want to hit him with a rock. He’s growing on me as a director, too (although I thought The Pledge had too many star cameos.)
4. Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a movie: Too many to count.
5. Name a movie that you can quote from: Ni! (Then again, who can’t?)
6. Name a movie musical that you know all the lyrics to all the songs: AHAHAHA- We shall not discuss my memory of lyrics here. Urrm- hey, Holy Grail has songs! Yeah, that.
7. Name a movie that you have been known to sing along with: “Every sperm is sacred…” Catchy tunesmiths, those Pythons.
8. Name a movie that you would recommend everyone see: I don’t know that I would; my tastes aren’t really all that mainstream. Umm… Seven Samurai.
9. Name an unusual movie that you own: Define “unusual…”
10. Name an actor that launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops: Most movie actors originally launched their careers in other entertainment mediums; Cary Grant was a stilt walker and acrobat, for instance. Urrm.. Elvis; if you ever see a movie called Flaming Star, he was pretty damn good in that. Alas, the Colonel chose most of his roles for him.
11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? Yup- Logan’s Run/Star Wars double feature.
12. Ever made out in a movie? What haven’t I done during a movie…?
13. Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven't gotten around to it: Lately? Milk. In general? I’ve seen all of Moulin Rouge, but never front-to-back, the whole way through.
14. Ever walked out of a movie? Many times; Evita comes to mind.
15. Name a movie that made you cry: The Fisher King.
16. Popcorn? Yep.
17. How often do you go to the movies? I doubt that I go more than eight or ten times a year now- which, considering that I know every member of Cinemania, is saying something.
18. What's the last movie you saw in the theater? Were the World Mine- sweet movie.
19. What is your favorite/preferred genre of movie? F/SF, if done well; black comedy.
20. What was the first movie you remember seeing in the theater? Young Frankenstein; “Puttin’ on the Ritz” nearly put me into an asphyxiation coma.
That reminds me...
Date: 2008-12-24 02:21 am (UTC)12.: What haven’t I done during a movie…? I'm guessing you haven't yodeled. Or gone swimming. Or dressed up like Cthulhu. ;-)
15.: I could quote from the film and make you cry again. I won't.
The Fisher King is rather special to me. It had to grow on me -- so did Brazil -- but eventually I was impressed enough with the film to use it as the focus of my college thesis. It's an odd experience first time through, though: unusual pacing, I thought. But it has genuine philosophical meat to it, and some wonderful performances. At the time I wondered all four principals should get Oscar nominations. I was very glad Mercedes Ruehl won, but it always bothered me that Jeff Bridges wasn't nominated.
20.: My closest experience was laughing so hard at the chase scene in Raising Arizona that I unsettled my stomach. (...no, just unsettled it. Didn't hork or anything!)
