Velma updates:

Back at work today, pretty much for the first time since 6 October. My bosses are working with me to figure out my schedule, which actually hinges on when Soren's physical therapy starts and takes place. I have to track down his doctors, who are mostly available between 1:00 and 5:00, which is damned inconvenient for someone whose work hours have been 10:00-6:30 for the past five years or so, but if I have to be a civil morning person, I'll fake it.

(My bosses, and the CFO, I gather, are also trying to figure out ways for me not to have to take unpaid leave time. Much as I bitch about this place some days, it really has been a good place to work about 80% of the time, which is higher than any other job I've had.)

Right now, though I'd planned to leave at 5:30, there's a reception for the college fairs that are the next two days going on, and speeches are being made, so I can't sneak out. On the other hand, I have a glass of good red wine, and a few minutes to post.

Soren is likely to be moved out of the first stroke step-down unit (the "quiet zone" - HA!) today, and into another step-down unit. In two or three days, according to one of the doctors, they may be able to move him into some sort of rehab space (whether in the hospital or not, we'll discuss), and start his physical and occupational therapy. He's lucid a lot more of the time now, and unhappy, but often resigned, rather than despairing, which I think is good.

Ah... rumblings of people socializing, rather than listening to speeches; I can take my glass back to be washed, and head for the hospital. Excellent.

Good that Velma's employer is trying to work with her. Please keep us posted if he's moved soon -- I'm scheduled to visit tomorrow morning.

I don't know if you've heard this yet, then, but it looks like he might be going to rehab in the next day or so.
