After rather a lot of walking yesterday, I woke up this morning with a right heel that felt as though someone had hammered a large nail through it. Currently, I'm reading about plantar fasciitis on the Internet, and waiting for this holiday to be over, so that I can see a doctor. More happily, I just had my six-month review, and it went well; plans for New Zealand are going well; with a bit o' luck, I'll be utterly debt free by the end of this year. Now, if I could just figure out the next chapter...

plantar fasciits
Date: 2008-09-01 01:37 pm (UTC)It hurt for about a month and a half before I saw the doc. They xrayed, and saw i had a small bone spur coming off my foot. Apparently though, it's not the bone spur that causes the pain, it's the ligaments/muscles that go over it that is the culprit. Though, if you've been reading up on it you probably know that by now.
Anyways, the way we got it to stop hurting was to get supportive insoles for my shoes that pad the heel. That's really about all they can do.
Now, keep in mind I went through all of this because living in England i get the free NHS service. If you don't want to pay for xrays and podiatrist visits, I'd recommend getting a nice firm insole for your shoes and giving that a go. It takes a little while, but it will sort itself out.
Good luck!
