Last night had an unexpected grace note at the Duplex: as Greg sang "True Colors," someone stood in front of his piano, and signed the lyrics to her friend. I've never seen an ASL performance at a piano bar before; it was surprising and lovely.

Back when 88's was still around in the city, I used to go when I went up to visit. There was a really beautiful man who would sign as opposed to sing the songs while the pianist played. His version of "Twist and Shout" knocked everyone's socks off.

I always meant to go to 88's; too damn many piano bars closing of late.

Sorry I missed that! Dang. Maybe next week?

I hope to: work is entering an insanely busy period, which makes evenings rather sticky.

I'm sorry I missed that, but I was in no shape for wandering north.

For what it's worth, the rest of that person's table became excessively boisterous later on: Greg had to ask for five seconds of silence, which is never a good sign. (They put olives in their beer, too; it was an effort not to make a face at that.)
