So, apparently Wendy Pini was once involved with a project to bring the Elric novels to the screen as an animated feature...? (And she also animated a bit of the Bakshi Lord of the Rings- quite the peanut butter n' borscht combination, if you ask me.)

I've been having trouble with it since last night. What's the point of being a servant of the Lord and Lady, if you can't make stuff like this better? ;)

Twenty years back, Father Tree Press put out the book Law and Chaos, which collected her notes and her surviving art from that whole project. The idea was to adapt Moorcock's last Elric book at the time, Stormbringer, and she was working on it when she was still a college student. She was the first one to admit that she became overly obsessed with it, and it nearly killed her marriage: she finally had to destroy one particularly elaborate piece of artwork just to see if she could do it, locked up her studio for a week, and walked away. Directing, drawing, animating, and even arranging the musical score, all for a project that she admitted never would have been seen outside of conventions. Whoo boy.

By the way, I'm not surprised in the slightest at the Bakshi work, seeing as how Elfquest was originally conceived to be a sequel to Wizards. (Please don't ask me how I know these things: my girlfriend during my senior year in high school was an Elfquest fanatic, and I briefly dated her best friend after I'd graduated. Her best friend was even more of an Elfquest junkie. Neither of them have talked to me since 1989, when I wrote a review of Star Trek V that described it as "William Shatner's plea for someone to stop him before he films again.")
