1) The Broadway walk is still happening; it's next Saturday (the 10th) at 10 AM, at the 225th St. 1 train station. Hope to see you there!

2) NaNoWriMo, alas, is not; too much work for me to do so (a pleasant change, so I'm not really complaining.)

3) My friend Chris is home, and recovering nicely.

4) I'm mulling over what I might actually want to see in an NYC movie theater; any recommendations?

5) Can anyone recommend a good book on Japan's economic recovery after World War II? (Also, if you've not read Japan at War, I recommend it; it's a Studs Terkel-style oral history of World War II, from the point of view of Japanese citizens of various social and economic classes. Fascinating.)

Wait, I'm confused: is the Bway walk this coming Saturday or the one after? I'm afraid that I need to attend a 4-year-old's birthday party this weekend.

As for theater, there's the Sorkin and a new Mamet and the new Stoppard, which would all be on the top of my list.

My mistake; that was the 10th, not the 3rd. (And that was supposed to say movie theater; I, clearly, need more coffee.)

We jsut saw "Gone Baby Gone" and were pretty impressed.

I might not be able to make the walk now as I'm having furniture delivered that day. :( Hopefully they'll come WAY early. Then maybe I can at least meet you half way or something. :)

Whatever works! (And that's Saturday the 10th, not tomorrow, if that helps.) Yay, furniture!

Alas, the furniture is being delivered on the 10th. It's the only Saturday they had before December. :(

In theory, the 10th is my last day in NYC.

But, of course, only in theory. So we'll see!

GO SEE MICHAEL CLAYTON.

Seriously.

Or not. :)

I swear, George Clooney is my own personal Jesus. (I still need to see Syriana.) You're welcome to join us, just in case!

You haven't seen Syriana? I have the DVD, which I will gladly lend to you.

At the end of Michael Clayton, Chris leaned over to me and said "If Clooney and Soderburgh decide to produce Police Academy 8, I'll go see it".

Bwa! Well spake, Chris :) (I accept, with thanks. Man, Clooney really filled the "handsome guy using his fame to make controversial movies on political subjects" niche Redford created.)

Ooooh, good parallel, that works very nicely.

Go see Clayton if just to see Tom Wilkinson deliver the line, "I am Shiva, the God of Death."

Thank you. (I've always wondered- what type of flower is that?)

Veronica persica, Persian speedwell or corn speedwell. People call it a weed. It's a wildflower; tiny; opens in early spring around Ankara, and as it happens around Washington DC too.

I can't be sure yet, but I may come on the walk.... THings are still... coalescing. Also, there's the wierd dietary restrictions I have :/ I don't like subjecting people to them... How many folk are going?

I don't really know; the one person who was definite had to bow out due to furniture delivery, so I don't think it would be a huge issue. Come along, if you can- it'll be fun!
