A few years ago, while visiting a friend in Philadelphia, I went to an exhibit of Titanic artifacts at the Franklin. While in the museum's gift shop, I bought a White Star Line mug as a memento; I've kept it in the same spot on the shelf in the kitchen ever since. I've always politely requested of my apartment mates that they not use that particular mug; whenever I take it into my room, I make sure to return it to the kitchen and wash it afterwards. Now... it's missing. None of the four other people on our floor admit to knowing anything of its whereabouts; no one, apparently, has broken it, or lost it, or lent it out to some wild-eyed Titanic buff. It's not in my room; it's not on any of the other kitchen shelves; I haven't seen any suspicious white shards in the garbage of late. It's just missing, which irritates me greatly.

To my further irritation, I'm having no luck in turning up a replacement online; eBay has been useless, and Google seems to think that giving me a personalized White Sox mug is an acceptable substitute. The closest I've come to finding a replacement is this- but not only is the logo too large relative to the cup itself, but the mug itself is the wrong shape. The actual mug was squatter, with a more rounded base (presumably to avoid spilling liquids in rough seas); the mug in the upper right corner here is much closer (obviously), but... *sigh* If anyone could help me locate online a more accurate version of the mug I'm describing, I'd appreciate it mightily.

(And in happier news, I got to say hello to [livejournal.com profile] ladypeculiar, [livejournal.com profile] schmidtybooger, and [livejournal.com profile] lawnrrd last night; good to see you, one and all.)

The exhibit is here in Toronto right now, probably the same one. Want me to take a look at the gift shop for you?

I found it and bought it today-- 9.99 CAD which is 10.47 US. Ha ha! Sorry, I'm kind of thrilled by the exchange rate at the moment.

Anyway I think it's the one you had your eye on-- kind of roundish like a small shaving mug (?)
