Children of Men is the best science fiction movie I've seen since Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; it's probably the best dystopic vision of the future I've seen since Blade Runner (excepting always Brazil).

Wow, out of the 3 non-new movies you mentioned, 2 are among my favorites. I guess I need to see this movie!!!

That's some recommendation there! I've got a cold so going to a matinee sounds like an excellent plan. I'll check it out.

I never know what to say when people ask me, "What's your favorite movie?" (for one thing, how are they defining "favorite"?), but Brazil would definitely be up there.

Explain to me what is so good about Eternal Sunshine. (This is not confrontational, it's an honest question.) I was not very impressed. (It's not Jim Carrey - I'm OK with him.) Partly I just couldn't follow it, and I followed Memento, so that's saying something. (Or rather, Memento fell into place once I got to the end, and Eternal Sunshine still left me saying "huh?") But I've seen so many people praise this that it's puzzling to me.

I just wanted to note that I haven't forgotten this question (nor am I declining to answer); rather, I'm busily looking for my DVD of it, so that I can re-view the film, and answer properly :)
