There's a midnight showing of Sixteen Candles at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema (143 East Houston, betwen 1st and 2nd) tonight at midnight, if anyone's interested...

ETA:

And, if you scroll down to "Friday, May 19, 2006" on this site, you'll see a listing for a special edition DVD of Pretty in Pink... including an alternate ending, in which Andie chooses Duckie over Blaine. I may or may not write a post about John Hughes and his place in my personal pantheon one of these days (stipulated that he didn't direct Pretty in Pink; Howard Deutsch did), and what that time means to me now- but suffice to say, I've refused to re-view Pretty in Pink since I saw in at the Roxy Theater in Potsdam in 1986; if anything could make me sit down to revisit a movie that so utterly and profoundly pissed me off, this would be it.

That is such a terrible movie.
By which I mean, I am tempted.
I remember watching that at a sleepover party when we were maybe 8. The host girl's older sister looked a lot like Molly R.
I think that was the same party at which we all stuck balloons up the fronts and down the backs our nightshirts and pretended to be Jessica Rabbit. Kids are kind of scary.

Kids are definitely scary, and simply wrong. By all means, if you feel the need to revisit John Hughesville, give a call at 917-667-0526, or simply keep an eye out for the guy in a hat.

Sadly, I haven't gotten nearly as much work done today as I had planned to, so probably can't go out tonight.
Do please give my love to the '80s, though.

Well, if you ever get to that John Hughes post, I'm curious to know why PiP pissed you off. Somebody on my friends list saw it for the first time and it started a HUGE discussion thread on her journal. Interesting, only women had anything to say about the movie.
