1) Finding Nemo is hella fun- but then, you'd expect that of a movie where Bruce Spence does the voice of a shark who's sworn off eating fish, wouldn't you? (And yes, that is Willem Defoe doing the voice of Gil.)

2) Given my interest in photography, it absolutely baffles me that I had no idea who Richard Avedon was, the last time I saw Funny Face. Suffice to say, that was a long time ago- and the formal beauty of his images blends perfectly with Astaire's own grace as actor and dancer, not to mention Audrey Hepburn's eyes.

3) If this rain doesn't knock it off soon, I'm going to seriously contemplate brushing up on my carpentry techniques, and awaiting instructions denominated in cubits.

(6:36 PM- Edited to welcome [livejournal.com profile] anoisblue, [livejournal.com profile] trapezebear and [livejournal.com profile] phillip_marlowe! Sorry I wasn't more prompt, guys; blame the rain. I do.)

I don't know where you'd get gopher wood, though.

Was Defoe uncredited? I had no doubt who voiced him from the first syllable he uttered. Those scars, for some reason, made it resonate for me.

As a matter of course, Pixar productions run actors' credits at the end of the film; I didn't know any of the performer's identities going in, other than Brooks'. It was driving me nuts-I kept saying to myself, "Damn, but that sounds like Defoe..."

...amd, yeah; I should've guessed from the scars. It's been too long since To Live and Die in LA.

I saw that; his work took an awfully David Lynch turn in the later years- that bald guy with the bees, for instance...
