After getting up at- gnnargh- five this morning for various photo-related errands, I zip up to the rally, and:

-A man who I'm pretty sure I've seen before screams angry pro-war slogans, as he waves a sign with a slogan I can't read in the air. As the photographers converge on him, his speech reaches a crescendo, ending with him tossing the sign on the ground before stalking away. Five photographers swoop to take a picture of it; instinctively, I go the other way, and get a shot of them converging. When I see the man ten blocks later, he's holding the sign again.

-"The war is over- please leave Iraq in an orderly fashion!"

-Am oddly delighted, around Broadway and 11th, to hear a little girl serenading us with a conch shell, of all things; snap a shot, but very much doubt it'll read.

-Get to say a quick hello to [livejournal.com profile] sykii, along with mom and grandmother; think of my own mother's constant denigration of Bush and co., and have to smile.

-Bump into two film school classmates; sociably bellow our precis of the last few years at each other, as humanity mills by in all its noisy glory.

...oh, yeah; and also shoot seven rolls of film, being developed as we speak- including a last-minute appearance by [livejournal.com profile] ladypeculiar; a fine note to end on. Coffee and Camels for peace!

(And, on that happy note- welcome, [livejournal.com profile] postmoderngirl!)

Aargh- I saw that as soon as the pictures were developed, and dashed to a Internet cafe to fix it; at the time, with people chanting and me exhausted out of my brain, I misheard. Sorry about that; already fixed the quote (and they did indeed come out). Again, sorry.

At that point, I was more than a little befuddled myself :) W

Hrm... must have been right around where you were... I saw the little girl with the conch shell as well. My camera had run out of juice (that's the one problem with digial photography... well... one of many) and fool that I was didn't bother to stop to get more batteries so that image will just exist in memory.

If it's any consolation, I got a picture with an 80 mm lens- th conch barely read at all in the frame. Oh, well- a splendid memory it is.i
