Welcome to [livejournal.com profile] theotoky, and a belated welcome to [livejournal.com profile] starkyld. (Sorry, Starkyld; don't know how I missed that.) The hobbits gossiping about dark rumors of war... the elves leaveing... perhaps most of all, Frodo asking Aragorn about his song. Not a wasted frame.

That moment with Aragorn singing to himself is just the most wrenching moment of all the new footage for me. I slid off the couch and onto my knees when I first saw it, and my roommate and I both said "oh!" at the same time.

It's a key moment in Aragorn's character; one of at least half-a-d-dozen moments that I was growling to myself, "How in the name of all could they cut that?"... and then, I say to myself, "Three-hour running time; that's right."o

Yeah. I saw an interview with Peter Jackson and he said it was one of the last cuts he made, and it was terribly hard to do.
