...but if you were stuck on a desert island, what five albums would you have to have with you? (We'll just elide over such issues as how you'd actually play the damn things)...
I would miss so many others, but I'd wind up with these, I think...
1) LEGENDARY PINK DOTS, The Maria Dimension 2) SWANS, Various Failures 3) GODSPEED YOU BLACK EMPEROR!, "lift yr. skinny fists like antennas to heaven" 4) MOONTRIBE, Sound Without Walls 5) SPARKLEHORSE, It's a wonderful life
Bet I'd wind up, sooner or later, singing Radiohead songs out of tune. Thing is, part of the reason I picked the CDs I did is because they are familiar enough that I don't have to really focus on them if I don't want to, and I don't have to be "in the right mood" (necessarily) to listen to them, either. I also picked a variety of styles (for the most part), rather than sticking with one genre or another, because I know there'd be times for fast stuff, other times for slower, etc. I wanted to pick some ambient musik, but then I figured that it would probably not get quiet enough on a desert island for that, what with the sea and all. That's when I realized that I was thinking too much about it, and posted this comment. (-:
Eli and the Thirteenth Confession, Laura Nyro Emergency and I, The Dismemberment Plan Pacific Overtures, English National Opera version Zooid, Henry Threadgill god and the f.b.i., Janis Ian
