Phil Foglio Good Omens art- eBay auction
Jun. 4th, 2008 12:38 pmOn auction on eBay: pages of Good Omens art, adapted and drawn by Phil Foglio, proceeds to fund Alzheimer's research. I quote from the eBay listing:
"All proceeds from this auction will go to Alzheimer's Research Trust, as suggested by wonderful people behind the Match It For Pratchett campaign.
This auction is for two pages of original, unpublished comic book art based upon the fantastic novel Good Omens. We also have these pages posted for reading on our web site."
"The Story Behind These Pages:
These pages were scripted by E. Jordan Bojar, drawn by Phil Foglio (Girl Genius), inked by Matt Howarth (Those Annoying Post Brothers), and I'm pretty sure was lettered by Willie Schubert (Although I'm not completely sure about the letterer, Willie was the one we mostly used back then.) The idea was to put together a proposal for a graphic novel miniseries and pitch it to Gaiman and Pratchett. Alas, we got distracted by other, more stupid things, and wound up never pitching the project at all. Years later, when we were busy with other things and it was a bit too late to pitch it as a series, we showed the art to both authors. They said nice things about it and let us put it online as fan art."
"Fast forward to the present, and the original art still kicking around our studio. Everybody in fandom is trying to raise money for Alzheimer's research in honor of Terry Pratchett, who has had some bad luck with that recently and is, sadly, likely to have more. Since we love Pratchett's work, and are awfully fond of the man himself, we thought this was as good a time as any to get this art out of the flatfiles and into the hands of someone who will enjoy it for the odd little curiosity it is."
"Good Omens and all the characters are the property of Gaiman and Pratchett. What you see here is completely Fan Art, and we make no claim to ownership of anything other than this original artwork. All rights reserved. This work was not authorized or approved by either author."
