Feb. 25th, 2007 12:48 pmThrough the good offices of
ladypeculiar, I saw an interesting series of interesting short works (mostly comic in nature) yesterday- the Thicker Than Water Youngblood festival for playwrights under 30 at EST (549 W 52nd St.) Although uneven, as such things often are, it was an interesting and entertaining grouping, including a piece about a group discussing one character’s breakup, while his ex simultaneously makes out with another character on another section of the stage (and one actor has his hands down his pants for several minutes); a series of songs sung by a group of girls to the drug dealer they love, and several other works. (I don’t know; how does one summarize a piece about Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt getting drunk together that includes his line, “Lance Armstrong beat polio!”?)
In other news- as a change of pace from the Potterfic, I’m posting this, a story I wrote about five years ago, and only rediscovered recently. It’s based on a superhero roleplaying game I was part of back then, that was set in the 1920s; if you can guess which character I played, I’ll give you a cookie. (Please note that there are some fairly realistic depictions of war herein.)
