Well, I'm back.

Far, far too jet-lagged; the red-eye dropped me off at JFK at 7:30 this morning, and I'm still reeling. Something quietly, almost sublimely right about driving out to the canyon in an unheated rental car- 150 miles round trip, more driving than I've done in ages. Haven't done anything like this since Florida, at the end of '97; very, very satisfying to wade through the logistics, check and double-check preparations, and just bloody do it. A touch of adventure, and very much needed, missing cell phone and all.
