Random: I'm the sort of odd duck who prefers stories of (British) civilians during WWII (such as HOPE AND GLORY) to combat films (although I obviously can appreciate films on the order of BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI, THE DAM BUSTERS, or A BRIDGE TOO FAR). Accordingly, 1) please drop any recs of movies of Brits on the home front struggling bravely through the war here (since I *hope* this thing of not being able to watch new movies is not permanent), and 2) if I should mention that my favorite film of WWII involving combat is THE THIN RED LINE (like it or hate it, it's *highly* atypical of the genre), please be kind and chalk it up to my being the sort of barbarian who puts ketchup on my steak.
