A friend of mine named Michael who works at the piano bar I frequent was recently assaulted, resulting in rather formidable medical bills. (And, it occurs to me just this moment, either having some sort of benefit or setting up a PayPal button for donations for his medical expenses would not be a bad idea at all. Must think on this after coffee.) Anyway, bumped into him the other night; gave an impromptu donation of $20 to the bill fund; he's looking MUCH better.
Also- I heard them the moment I walked in. They sounded like a college frat in mid-party, although they looked to be in their 40s and 50s; at one point, I slipped the piano player a note that read Why did the cast of Animal House have their reunion HERE? No "Louie Louie," but they did request "Mony Mony," its spiritual descendant; I'm fairly sure that that's the first time I've ever heard it at a piano bar (thank the gods for small favors). They were running the servers ragged; getting up to dance in the (small; crowded) main floor; yelling back and forth at each other; I'm sure that it's only a coincidence that when I requested a Tori Amos song from Brian, he immediately launched into "Silent All These Years."
