Children of Earth is some of the most thought-provoking science fiction I've ever seen in my life. (Note that there may well be are CoE spoilers in comments.)

Yes, I have.

1) Man, did my heart go out to Ianto in his last moments. (I honestly wish that they had picked a different series in which to kill Ianto off: the grief of his passing largely overwhelmed the fact that the balance of this series- much, MUCH more artistically focused than the first two- is very much about human evil.)

2) Speaking of which: to say that I'm curious about how Miracle Day will address the fact that Jack willfully made an evil choice for no other reason that he was ordered to do it is a HUGE understatement.

3) Peter Capaldi. Everyone in this did stellar work- Euros Lyn is FANTASTIC with actors- but wow, Capaldi.

1. I think I've said this before, but it bears repeating -- Day 4 GUTTED me, and I thought Day 5 couldn't be worse. Day 5? My main reaction other than sobbing to hard I couldn't breathe was to hate myself for a day.

2. Well, it is Jack. did you watch the new preview yet? I'm also curious how they'll address that considering what happens on Miracle Day, suddenly Jack is normal. And if they can cure the world of this condition, maybe he can be cured too.

3. I KNOW. The suicide scene.... sweet lord. And yeah, Euros Lyn can apparently get subtlety out of anyone, even Barrowman. It's bizarre.

It's pretty amazing looking (wow, did they bring the American guest stars).(Pullman's outflung arms make me wonder just how far they're going with the religious angle this time around. Probably quite a lot, what with the title and all.) Jack cured... yeah, he really is rather dragging a death wish around.

(I would give quite a lot to know why Jack stopped being a Time Agent, and what happened with those two missing years, since I very much doubt that the Time Agency were stupid enough to just leave him in the past. Maybe he did something even worse once, and is blocking it out?)

Reading the spoilers reminds me that I'll have to re-watch this alone. With handkerchief. And a good twelve hours or so of daylight between me and the nearest human contact afterwards.

I love the COE riters' willingness to pose incredibly knotty ethical questions. I just wish the plotting had been up to par. Like, really, no one can guess what the big bulletproof glass room full of poison gas is for? Really?

There were a lot of dangling issues in the series (what would Jack and Ianto have hoped to accomplish, had they been able to shoot through the glass, other than flooding the room they're in with hydrogen cyanide? Hey, is it a good idea to allow Gwen & co. into a room full of people who've just died from an alien virus, when they don't have any air filtration gear?) but it is amazingly powerful, all the same.
