Today marks the 20th anniversary of the death of director Derek Jarman. Essayist; AIDS activist; pioneering influence for what would become the New Queer Cinema- it's impossible to imagine, say, Velvet Goldmine without Jarman's influence- he is one of the most important, and critically underrepresented, voices in modern cinema.
