(no subject)

A scan from issue 6 of the Star Wars Tales comic; contains some interesting “behind the scenes” backstory for the first and second Star Wars trilogies; spoils of sorts, along with a rather touching ending.

Are Hoth, the asteroid belt, and Bespin all supposed to be in the same system? The Falcon's hyperdrive is pretty well out of commission for the whole film; at sublight speeds, even traveling from Hoth to the relatively temperate Bespin should take months... And let's not get into "Why the hell doesn't Artoo simply fly from the X-wing to solid ground, rather than do his whole periscope trick, when Luke crashes on Dagobah..."or start questioning exactly how much Artoo knows (and doesn't tell the others) about Annikin Skywalker and Darth Vader, for one.

(Ahh, Star Wars- there are no new questions, only insufficient luck at Googling the most popular answers.)

Googling tells me that the Falcon had a crappy backup hyperspace drive that could only go short distances and required a long recharge time, and that it took them weeks anyway. Which is actually a little bit better than standard George Lucas apologetics since Luke needed enough time to get his training from Yoda.

You know, I always wondered that too.

My far-too-informed SW fan of a sister says yes, they are in the same star system.
