I'm still in Auckland; I'm struggling with a fatigue that seems to be part jet lag, part recuperating from pre-travel exhaustion, and part annoying cold *tragic face* My energy level keeps wavering: I was able to scramble up a 50' *extremely* sheer cliff face this morning (only to discover that the mountain in question had a perfectly nice footpath running up the other side), but had to sit and rest twice on the way back down. Am currently contemplating/planning a sky jump for tomorrow AM (take that, cold!); tomorrow, I'm planning to go on a tour of the North part of the island (including a swing by Matamata, where Hobbiton was built), but that's up in the air right now, due to health issues. Still, it's absolutely impossible to be depressed about any of this; wherever I go from here, it'll be an adventure. New Zealand is paradise; I could see myself living here.

I believe coyotes have been limited to North and Central America, at least for now. Foxes have made it to all the major continents, but apparently not New Zealand, although I expect foxes would love the tasty ground birdies. New Zealand's ecology is so strange and primitive that I can't even pick out a mid-size predator of similar style; hawks are the best I can find.

Ahh, well. I'd originally hoped to pick up some sort of coyote/fox New Zealand art piece as a thank-you for Kai's advice on the tattoo; dinner when next I'm in SF shall have to suffice.
