As an experiment, I tried this (singing "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover" to our cats); no response from Squish, but Damien rolled around on his back, in his best Sophie B. Hawkins style. Conversely, "Tainted Love" produced more-or-less harmonic yowls from Squish; Damien began napping. Results inconclusive; further research required.
