For anyone thinking about the holidays already, some gift ideas:

First, allow me to recommend the lovely homemade scented soaps from the Etsy folks at Heartanddart (I own several bars of various scents; all are wonderful):

heartanddart's Shop Announcement
Delicious handmade soaps blended from rare teas and the finest oils.

Tea is famous for its antioxidant properties and each bar is made with real tea leaves that have been infused for their scent, color, and skin benefits. The combination of tea and moisturizing properties of goat's milk create a richly lathering bar without artificial suds boosters that is never drying or harsh on your skin. No sodium laureth sulfate, parabens, or other unhealthy chemicals are used in our soaps! We try to keep it as natural as possible.

We also offer flat-rate Priority shipping within the US for larger orders.
Yes, we do ship internationally!

Soaps are restocking weekly. If you want two or three or more of your favorite bar, please convo us so we can get a listing up with everything you need!

Each order comes with two free samples. Make a request, and we'll do our best to accommodate it.

(I particularly recommend Winter Melody, which has a lovely pine scent.)

As another possibility, [livejournal.com profile] sykii is selling prints of her lovely photo work, to benefit a friend of ours who had a stroke.

[livejournal.com profile] sykii:

Some of you may know Soren deSelby and his partner, Velma. Soren had a hemorrhagic stroke in early October, and is convalescing. We are all optimistic about his recovery, but what is certain is that he, as a freelance copy editor, has neither health insurance nor sick leave, so they are now facing a serious financial burden.

I've known Velma and Soren for many years, and they are warm, creative people whose love and respect for one another is inspiring.

I am selling prints of my photos for the first time, with all profits to go to help defray their medical bills. I have made a flickr collection of the ones that I think people might like, but for those of you who like to browse: if you see an image you want that isn't included in the collection, just email me and if it exists in printable form, it's yours.

The price is $20 per 8x10" print, via paypal. Unfortunately, prints larger than 8x10" are not available at present.

Finally, regardless of whether or not you buy anything, Velma would like to remind you to get your blood pressure checked. This could happen to anyone, and it is preventable.

Please feel free to repost/link to this.

[Edited to add: It would be great if you could email me directly-- patashoqua at gmail dot com-- rather than just leaving a comment; makes it easier to keep track of separate orders. This is also my email address for Paypal.]

Finally, my friend [livejournal.com profile] jolefay has some lovely jewelry for sale on Etsy; the leaf earrings are particularly nice.

Also, as a present for anyone on my flist who hadn’t heard this- Monty Python have uploaded most of their TV work, available for free on YouTube. Nee!

For myself, I got complete runs of Monty Python (not hooked up at home), Blackadder, and Fawlty Towers as early 40th birthday presents. Also, I just found that a former coworker of mine was the production stage manager for Charles Ludlam’s Ridiculous Theatrical Company, which delights me immoderately. Yay!
