My nerves are oddly ajitter today. Last night, I decided to enjoy the unseasonably warm weather by going for a bike ride; I wound up wiping out and landing in almost exactly the manner in which I broke an arm, more than twenty-five years ago. No harm done, save for mild abrasions (I'm glad I was wearing a helmet; then again, I always do), but the near-miss injury had me tense. My confidence was rattled to the point that I decided to walk the bike the last few bocks home; I was walking past a dark flight of steps- when some guy I hadn't seen suddenly spoke into his cell phone right by my ear, scaring the willies out of me. Home; tea; bed. Now, I hear a parade passing by my window; I suspect that this means it's time to get out of bed, and make my way to Park Slope. Wish me luck.

It's amazing how much a small fall can rattle one's nerves. Heck even doing something at the beginning of the day like breaking a glass sets a negative tone. Hope it gets better.

Why in the world is there a parade? And a band? Does this happen often?

My apartment mate muttered something about "three kings"; apparently, it's some sort of twelth night (day) celebration of the Wise Men. *shrug* Quite a high frequency of parades here, though.
