theater flashback (Slightly belated)

Belated flashback: On October 11, 1992, through the good offices of my friend Paul, my new-to-New York city self was able to attend the premiere of Larry Kramer's play The Destiny of Me, starring Jonathan Hadary, John Cameron Mitchell, and Piper Laurie. 25 years (and a bit) on, it remains a highpoint of my theater experiences- and chatting with Larry Kramer (who couldn't have been sweeter) afterwards was lovely, too. (About ten years ago, I attended a fundraiser which John Cameron Mitchell was attending; got to compliment him on his sterling work there, and mused yet again that he actually looks quite a bit like Julie Harris.)(And no, I did *not* follow Piper Laurie around going, "THEY'RE ALL GOING TO LAUGH AT YOU!"
