From Kenneth Tynan’s profile of Sir Ralph Richardson, in the book Show People:

“I stealthily consult some notes I have made about his career, but before I have framed my first question he says, ‘I’ve no idea what we are going to say to each other. After all, where did we come from? Did you ever have a vision of the place we came from before we were born? I did, when I was about three years old. I used to dream about it a good deal. I even drew pictures of it.’ He leans forward confidentially. ‘It looked rather like Mexico,’ he says with quiet emphasis. Wind utterly removed from sails, I am silenced: who else would start a conversation like this?”

Today's reading for the dragon book: Jo Walton's Tooth and Claw. From a review by [personal profile] sartorias: "The opening of Tooth and Claw is a deathwatch over an old dragon, Bon Agornin; the equivalent story-point, the death of Mark Robards' father, occurs a hundred pages into Framley Parsonage, takes place off-stage, and of course does not feature the old pastor's children crowding round to eat his body before it has cooled."
