Little Brother
Jun. 27th, 2013 05:09 pmI'm currently beginning to read Cory Doctorow's Little Brother, a book I picked up because 1) Doctorow; and 2) it's set in the Bay area. So far, Doctorow seems to be doing fairly well with writing in the voice of a young teen (which can be surprisingly difficult); the main plot, involving an act on the BART and the Bay area, is developing well; while the commentary on Homeland Security is strongly explicit, Doctorow has managed, so far, to keep the book from descending into being nothing more than a polemic (although it has that side as well, including a bibliography on the subjects of hacking, cryptography, and the like). So far, so good.
