Oct. 6th, 2012 01:17 amNo idea why, but a dream I had last night leaves me abidingly curious as to what would happen if one were to watch The Wall and Velvet Goldmine back to back. (And I'll always kind of wish- and find it impossible to defend the notion- that Derek Jarman should have directed The Wall. If you've never seen Jarman's work, give it a look: an absolutely crucial figure in New Queer Cinema, and an obvious influence on Todd Haynes (who hired several Jarman collaborators for Velvet Goldmine). Wittgenstein- for its wit, not necessarily for the philosophy- and Edward II are good places to start.
