Jul. 26th, 2012 01:31 pmI'm thinking seriously of replacing the word "queer" as used as a catchall phrase for "people who don't color within the gender lines" with- until I can think of a better term- "rainbow people"; I've heard more than once from people online- particularly British people- that the word "queer" can itself be triggering, like "faggot" or "homo"; while "rainbow people" may not be the ultimate ideal choice (in this language that is very much still evolving to deal with such concepts), the symbology does seem appropriate.
