remembrance
Apr. 14th, 2012 04:07 pmTonight at 11:40 PM ship's time (not allowing for time zone differences- the ship was three hours behind GMT, or two hours ahead of EST), it will have been 100 years since the RMS Titanic struck the iceberg. At 2:20 AM tomorrow morning (same qualifier applies), it will have been 100 years since it sank.
how did I miss this?
Apr. 14th, 2012 04:12 pmOn November 15, 2011, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan addressed the eighth annual National Center for Transgender Equality awards ceremony- the first time a cabinet secretary addressed a transgender organization.

Apr. 14th, 2012 05:13 pmI'm reading a 1975 Rolling Stone interview with Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, conducted by none other than Cameron Crowe (then all of 17). (The band had refused to give RS an interview for years, citing the magazine's notorious pans of their albums; they relented after reading Crowe pieces praising their work.)
Crowe: How well do you remember your first American tour?
Plant: Nineteen years old and never been kissed, I remember it well. It's been a long time. Nowadays, we're more into staying in our rooms and reading Nietzsche.
