Sadly, this year-old article (which I've been seeing all over creation today) is NOT the case- this is a case that's currently on appeal before the district court.

Dharun Ravi, the Rutgers University student who used a webcam to spread classmate Tyler Clementi's sex life with another man across the Internet, thereby leading to Clementi's suicide, has rejected a plea bargain.

GOP State Representative Bob Nicholas (R-Cheyenne) was arrested the day before Thanksgiving for viciously beating his 19-year-old mentally disabled son, including kicking him in the ribs, outside a restaurant.

A lesbian couple from Honolulu are suing the state of Hawaii for the right to marry after being told they could not file for a marriage license by the state health department.

The Unearthly Child- the show so good, they filmed it twice! Hartnell quite nicely grouchy, and even hostile, as the Doctor; supporting cast growing on me; nice first camera move in on the TARDIS- well done, Waris Hussein! (Fuck, do these cavemen ever shut up...?)

The Daleks (1st Doctor)- It's on: Dalek style! Hmm; lots of blond people peacefully discoursing on the surface before being turned to violence in self defense by time traveler(s); nasty monsters underground. Did George Pal hear about this? It's got Time Machine vibes all over it. (random cameo- the blond girl from A Clockwork Orange, wearing a dress that's rather lowcut for early-60-s Beeb.) First Doctor enjoyable curmudgeonly (until radiation poisoning sets in); Ian (and to a degree, Barbara and Susan) doing most of the actually science-ing. I can only imagine 10's reaction: "That was me? But I'm brilliant!" Great POV shot introduction of the Daleks, though.

Tomb of the Cybermen (Second Doctor)- This Doctor is rather definitely of the "Perhaps it will confuse them if we run away MORE!" school, isn't he? Troughton slyly charming, although no flute playing, alas; episode as a whole contains unfortunate racist undertones, from stoic black manservant (who kicks a Cyberman's ass, it must be said), to not-quite-Peter Lorre Middle Eastern chap; next to this, the distinctly off-the-rack American accents the rocket guys are using are a relief. Some nice, creepy moments with Cybermen being unfrozen (Doctor, weren't the images of Cybermen all over the tomb a bit of a tipoff that exploring further was not a good idea? Remember what happened in The Tenth Planet!)

Spearhead From Space... Hi, Brig!!! This is actually my first Pertwee; he's growing on me nicely, although I fell asleep around Episode Three. Doctor with a tattoo! (And looking rather dashing, I must say.)

The combination of my own quite incomplete collection of Doctor Who episodes (the majority of which are Fourth Doctor) and my refusal to watch any of the reconstructions (sadly, Tomb of the Cybermen is from bad copies made on film (rather than the original videotape) is keeping this project to a manageable size; does anyone have any Second or Third serials to recommend?
