OK, I may have overdone it a bit with the walking on this trip: when I woke up this morning, some tendon-y sort of thing in the back of my left knee informed me that today was likely to be a stay at home sort of day. As today is 1) my last day in San Francisco, and 2) was going to involve a trip to Pixar, I was not exactly overjoyed- but OK; it's been an amazing trip, nevertheless. One of the many, many high points was meeting [livejournal.com profile] feyandstrange and [livejournal.com profile] digitalsidhe at the Castro theater (where I'd never been) for seeing the Giorgio Moroder version of Metropolis; the Castro, one of the two or three most beautiful movie palaces I've ever been in, pretty much made the trip for me, on its own. (An organist played for us before the show *happy sigh*) I really, really should seek out the restored version- but that's an essay for another time. Thank you, A and K; thank you thank you thank you, [livejournal.com profile] sophiescholl, for being such a wonderful hostess; I may see if painkillers make one last trip to the Transamerica pyramid possible later on; for now, I'll stay off my feet, and work on some Harry Potter stuff, and happily mull over the last few days' memories.

OK, links:

Adventures in Depression: I feel great right now (knee aside)- but yeah; been there. Get out of my braaaaaiiiin, Allie Boosh!

Much more happily: "Captain Adam Harmon is now 31 and the intelligence officer for a military police battalion at Fort Riley, Kansas. [His husband, Captain] Pete [Bennett]'s picture sits openly on his desk in the headquarters building. And, for the past two weeks, "Adam has worn a wedding ring on his left hand."

Apparently, Albery Finney has landed a role in the new Sam Mendes-directed James Bond film. (In my heart of hearts, I'd love for it to be a retelling of On Her Majesty's Secret Service: very possibly the best narrative for a Bond film (as well as simply being a kickass movie), unfairly tarred with the WAAHNOCONNERY brush.

And then there's: Python blood may hold key to heart disease cure.

And, so long as I'm getting all science-y: Massively parallel computer built from single layer of molecules.
