R.E.M. have broken up. Even before "Losing My Religion," I have many memories of the indistinct murmur of Stipe's vocals, at parties at the local college, a soundtrack to truths I would never quite know completely, but always feel in my bones.

This is the second proper chapter of a story I'm writing for epilogue_hp; it's set the morning after the prologue, in which that year's students travel to Hogwarts, roughly 20 years after the events of Deathly Hallows. It's set in an AU version of the Deathly Hallows epilogue- one in which Slytherin House has been reopened after a nineteen-year shutdown (due to rampant anti-Slytherin paranoia following the events of Deathly Hallows) just in time for a certain eleven-year-old to go to Hogwarts- and be sorted into Slytherin, whereupon he and his Housemates reluctantly decide to attempt to rehabilitate the reputation of their controversial House. With half the school convinced that they're Death Eaters in training, it won't be easy...
