yuki_onna writes perceptively about Stanley Kubrick, and her issues with his work. While I don't fully agree with her overall estimation of his work- I consider Kubrick one of the greatest of the great; I once visited the site of his childhood home in the Bronx, and own the source novels (several of which are out of print) of all of his major films- it's well worth a read.
