Lovecraft burlesque in NYC! <3

(Also, it's probably appropriate to mention in a context of symbols of madness and despair- if not the nearly-naked women- that I used to frequent a chat room run by someone named Cliff (and if that name means nothing to you, thank your gods). I met a great many wonderful people there; although we tended to scatter to the far corners of the Internet once nycgoth.com went The Way of All Things Cliff, I've kept up with some of them; saw one of them, the spiffy [livejournal.com profile] shefell, in DC on Saturday. She's doing well; it was nice to catch up and trade stories of the last ten years.)

The US Navy has authorized its chaplains to perform same-sex marriages on military bases in states that legally recognize such unions. (Of course, that's only if it is conducted in one of the five states (along with the District of Columbia) that allow gay marriage, and of course the DADT repeal still needs to be certified by the Pentagon, but still.)

(a personal note, then):

Also: Melissa is back from that cruise thing she was on; her voice is a bit huskier now, and I still want to carry her around in a pocket and feed her blueberries.

Also also: Saw the show ("Helen on 86th Street") that Robby Stamper did with his kids; it was a touching show, and it was lovely to see him afterward.

Brian has taken to doing "Fridays" (that song by the 13-year-old girl that the Internet loves to hate) in the voice of Stewie from Family Guy; it makes my brain do that thing Neal Stephenson described in Snow Crash, where your brain simply recites Babylonian monosyllables. Ra Ma La Ma Sha Na Na...
