Those to whom I promised a holiday card: fear not! I briefly misplaced (and since re-placed) my master list of addresses/checklist of people who already *got* a card from me this year, but all will now be well. OK- time to see if I can watch True Grit and re-watch Black Swan before year's end; perhaps also Andrei Rublev and Godzilla vs Gigan for home viewing, just because.

OK- the NYE choices are down to:

1) Spend it up by the Cloisters, in a spot I know that has a particularly lovely view;

2) A '70s-themed dance (jury's out on whether or not this actually entails disco; my apartment mate mentioned it in passing a few days ago, and I've been trying to catch her since, to get more info);

or 3) spend NYE curled up at home with whatever snacks and suck I care to lay in, and watchung Tarkovsky's masterpiece, Andrei Rublev.

4) For the umpteenth year in a row, the young me who used to watch the celebration on TV wants to go to Times Square; for the umpteenth year in a row, the rest of me says, "Are you fucking kidding?"

...as for you, whether your plans involve movies, parties, or some clingfilm and the musician of your choice (Gluhwein optional), I wish you the happiest of holidays. (ETA: Apparently, there's a book out. Ulrich Haarburste, the man behind the movement, writes:

"I have chosen to publish this book in Britain as it is the country with the most positive attitude towards Clingfilm Rights - indeed, it is possible to obtain an arts council grant to wrap someone there.

"My tome can be purchased online here. (...)

"Alternatively any self-respecting bookshop should have a Clingfilm Wrapping section and the book will most likely be located there. Should it not be you should proceed to the counter and politely ask the man (or woman) to order you a copy. Please state the title 'Ulrich Haarburste's Novel of Roy Orbison in Clingfilm' in a loud voice and excited tone, as this may make people nearby curious about the book and help spread the word, and they may also become curious about you and want to be your friend."

Why, why do I always hear about these things just after the main gift-giving holidays?

(Ye gods- there's an adventure game!)
