Harry Potter fic

Since I'm finally (finally!) getting close to posting new chapters on my Harry Potter story (an alternate version of Book 7 that I began back in 2005, and have updated at a positively geologic rate ever since), I thought I'd repost the prelude for the fun of it: in which incoming headmaster Albus Dumbledore drops by to bid a fond farewell to outgoing Armondo Dippet (he of the Chamber of Secrets diary flashback), and all goes quite pleasantly, until the conversation turns to former students...

Although this story technically takes place in the same ficton as the rest of my Harry Potter story, it is set much earlier, at the end of the 1954 Hogwarts school year; it was written for the June Mentors Challenge at omniocular. (The post linked to includes a list of prompts, and posting guidelines for nonmembers, should anyone be interested.) Needless to say, not Deathly Hallows- sompliant at all, particularly with regards to backstory.

A New York City moment: I'm walking up Mott Street towards Houston a few moments ago; I'm chatting on my cell phone with a friend in Vermont, saying how there's nothing special going on this afternoon... when I'm interrupted by the sound of cheering. I look up; pedaling down Mott towards me are roughly 30 cyclists, almost all of whom are, save for cycling helmets, stark naked (and one of whom sported a well body-painted version of this entry's userpic).
