The last Space Shuttle flight scheduled has been rolled back to 2011, due in part to the cancellation of the Constellation project (which was intended to bring astronauts back to the moon). I can remember holding my toy shuttle when I was a child, back in the 70s; the thrill of hearing that one of them was to be named Enterprise. Some part of me still associates the shuttle with that same childhood sense of wonder; even now, with the shuttle’s technology so outdated that spare parts have to be searched out on eBay, some childhood part of me wants it not to be over.
