They did... well, no, they didn't...

What sick, sick little monkey thought up this bogus press release, announcing an alleged remake of Watchmen- which is currently failing to make much of a dent in the box office- as a remake with a younger cast for a 2012 release? I quote:

“I love ‘Watchmen,’ but its mature tone is too much for our younger viewers,” said Tull. “That’s why for the ‘Watchmen’ reboot, we’re going younger. Today I’m excited to announce that we’ve signed the starts of the smash hit ‘Twilight,’ Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, to play ‘Watchmen’s Night Owl and Silk Spectre.”

The cast will be filled out by star Josh Harnett, who has agreed to play ‘Watchmen’s powerful hero Dr. Manhattan, and two songs will be provided by musical sensation “The Jonas Brothers.” No director has been attached at this time.

“I know a generation of teenagers will fall in love with Robert and Kristen all over again,” said Fellman. “We all need a bit of pepping up, and this new cheerful, feel-good “Watchmen” will be just the ticket. I think even Alan Moore, writer of the original “Watchmen” comic book, will have a smile on his face when he sees what Josh Harnett does with Dr. Manhattan.”

GENIUS. Whoever the culprit, it’s a practical joke that would do You-Know-Who proud; the only way it could have been better is if they’d cast Jason Mewes as Rorschach. Bickety-bam!
