I feel a twinge at hearing that the Oscar Wilde Bookstore is
closing; they were the nation's first gay-themed bookstore, from the time Craig Rodwell opened the store in 1967. (Although I have to confess that I always found the service there to be mediocre at best; when I was there about six months ago, the counterperson had no idea who John Preston was, and kept referring to Patrick Califia as "Pat." Still, a sad day, for a pioneering venue.)
