It's always a pleasure when a movie actually lives up to its own press, and delivers what we were expecting- hoping- to see. Juno is everything the reviews have said: it's a smart, funny, humanist film, with wonderful acting; while the dialogue can become self-consciously clever at times, its characters refuse to act in stereotypical fashion at any point. (The parents- Alison Janney and J.K. Simmons- were particular favorites of mine; Ellen Page as Juno is simply wonderful.) There's not much else to say about it that wouldn't simply be reciting further praise; it's an absolute delight.
